Mr Dum Dum

Mr Dum Dum

Mr Dum Dum was designed in 2014 for our game Ba Ba Dum and is available on MyFonts since 2017.

Ba Ba Dum is an educational game in which players learn words in different languages, so we needed a typeface that can support not only all Latin characters, but also Cyrillic, Greek and two Japanese syllabaries – Hiragana and Katakana.

Eventually, we wanted to add Chinese support, so we designed 1314 Simplified Chinese characters – just enough to cover all words available in Ba Ba Dum, plus necessary logograms to translate the game’s UI.

You can buy Mr Dum Dum on MyFonts.

Below you can see how it works in the game.

Making of

As with most of our fonts, we started working on paper. After we had a clear idea about how the basic letters should look like, and what dissociative characteristics they are going to get, we opened FontLab or Glyphs and started shaping this vague and rough vision into a working font.
